Noh × Contemporary Music Talk and concert - 5 composers
1950年代以降、日本の伝統音楽を素材に使った現代音楽は数多く創作されてきました。特に能楽を素材として扱った作品は、1959年から77年にかけて、武満徹、湯浅譲二、一柳慧、福島和夫の作品の制作が行われましたが、それ以降の世代による作品制作は活発でないのが現状です。2007年2月にトーキョーワンダーサイト渋谷にて行われた同時代音楽塾シリーズ「Voice 現代日本の作曲家と出会う 第2回目 湯浅譲二の音楽」にて湯浅譲二作曲「雪はふる」（日本舞踊のための付帯音楽。謡・観世寿夫。1972年舞台初演。その後再演なし）がコンサート初演されました。企画は好評を博し、現代音楽の最先端と能楽の精神の共通性に触れた若手の現代音楽作曲家の間に能楽を用いた作品創りの気運が高まり、その後青木涼子（能楽）を中心に数多くの作曲家が能楽とのコラボレーションを行っています。 本企画では、青木涼子を中心とするensemble-no（アンサンブルノウ）が、既に国際的に活躍する若手作曲家５名に委嘱し、ensemble-noのメンバーが演奏発表を行います。2010年9月より2011年3月に渉って、5人の作曲家それぞれにスポットを当てた5回シリーズを開催いたします。1回のプログラムとしては、前半に創作過程についての作曲家のトークを行い、後半この日のために書き下ろした新曲をお届けするという構成となります。我が国が誇る伝統文化である能と世界最先端で活躍する作曲家による現代音楽との融合から生まれる新しい芸術の誕生に立ち会うまたとない機会です。多くの皆さんのご来場をお待ちしております。本企画後は、コンサート活動を日本だけでなくヨーロッパでも広く展開する予定です。

In 1960s, many new compositions inspired by Japanese traditional music were composed by many Japanese composers, such as Toru Takamistu, Joji Yuasa amongst others. However, after this generation, not so many works appeared. However, in 2007 a Noh performer, Ryoko Aoki concert premiered Yuasa Joji's "Snow falling down" (1972) 35years later after the premiere. It inspired many young composers and musicians and Ryoko Aoki started to collaborate with many composers. In this project, ensemble no which was founded around Ryoko Aoki will commission five international well-known young composers and ensemble no will premiere their new works. The project includes of five concerts that will be presented by each of five composers. The first half of the each concert, composers will talk about their own works and the new piece will be performed as the second part of the concert. The talk by composers will give the audience deep understanding about the new world of contemporary music and Noh. In the future, ensemble no will continue concert activities in Japan and Europe.
